The Freedom Center came to us looking for help in improving the usability and information architecture of their website. Our first task was a complete overhaul of the most popular section, Visit the Center. The pertinent content (directions, parking, hours, and ticket info) was originally spread out across multiple pages, we condensed it all into one easy to scan landing page that delivered the most sought for information front and center.
Our next task, reigning in the site structure, led us to the conclusion that a complete redesign might better serve the Center’s goals of being a destination site for slavery issues, past and present. The new website launched in early May of 2008.
