CINCINNATI—Electronic Art (www.electronicart.com), a full-service Internet services company that specializes in computer kiosks and high-end Web-based software development, announces a new business partnership agreement with IBM. Electronic Art has joined as a solutions provider for the IBM point of sale kiosk hardware architecture.
Electronic Art provides kiosk hardware sales and leasing for clients such as Sanofi-Aventis, The Circuit, ITEC, GlaxoSmithKline, and various event planners, advertising agencies and small businesses. One of only a handful of companies in the country that lease kiosk equipment, Electronic Art is unique because they also provide custom software development to integrate with the kiosk hardware and the customer’s overall brand strategies. Most kiosk hardware providers do not directly offer software development. Electronic Art also provides a full service solution including software, shipping to the event, maintenance during the event and post event data analysis. The customer never has to devote resources during their event to the kiosk initiatives.
According to Tim Burke, partner of Electronic Art LLC, many kiosk vendors will gladly sell hardware to companies with no way of knowing if it is the right solution for the software or the business model. “We consult for our clients to ensure that their kiosk hardware solution fits their needs,” Burke said, “and our partnership with IBM gives us another strong option for flexible kiosk hardware. IBM has a great reputation for quality engineering, hardware, and world class support.”
Burke says that the kiosks are often used for data collection, showcasing products or websites, surveys and multimedia presentations. “Our clients love the ability to collect information from their tradeshow visitors without having to retype the information later. It’s available for analysis and post event follow-up immediately, and consumer opinions can be analyzed over time to see changes in trends and market perception. “ says Burke.
Electronic Art fabricates custom kiosk enclosures, and the new IBM relationship gives them more options in providing compact, retail hardened kiosks. These kiosks are available in 12”; 15” and 17” touch screen versions. Options include barcode readers, wireless connectivity, magnetic card swipes, tabletop stands and proximity sensors. A modular, easy to ship kiosk, is currently being prototyped by Electronic Art that incorporates the new IBM hardware and will be released soon. There is already client interest in the new kiosk for future projects to reduce shipping costs to events, as well as retail uses such as, in-store promotions, product lookup and creating awareness for specials.
